The Greater Grand Rapids Bicycle Coalition was started by members of the 2009 Grand Rapids Bike Summit planning committee to serve as a single voice advocating for safer and more accessible bicycling of all kinds in Greater Grand Rapids.

We are working to make concrete, visible improvements to increase safe bicycling opportunities by actively engaging in advocacy and education efforts.

Our first major action, in August 2009, was submitting the successful application for Grand Rapids to be designated a Bicycle Friendly Community (Bronze level) by the League of American Bicyclists! We also hosted the 2010 Bikestock Dos bicycle festival in Downtown Grand Rapids, which was attended by over 2,000 bicyclists and supporters.

We hosted the successful 2011 Grand Rapids Bicycle Summit on Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Eberhard Center at Grand Valley State University's downtown Grand Rapids campus.
